literary storytelling

Cross the threshold into the elegant grandeur of No.1 Merrion Square, once home to revolutionary thinker, salon host and a legendary voice in 19th century Irish literature, Lady Jane “Speranza” Wilde.

For one night only, her drawing room is revived with dark tales and ancient folk-wisdom, as storyteller Emily Collins breathes new life into Speranza’s 1888 collection of stories, Ancient Legends, Mystic Charms and Superstitions of Ireland.

Gather round and listen closely as the veil lifts on tales of vengeful faeries, ghostly visitations, wretched curses, love charms and more. This journey into Ireland’s supernatural past takes place in the room where Wilde regularly hosted Victorian Dublin’s greatest literary minds.

A rare opportunity to honour the wit, wildness and legacy of Lady Wilde in the house she called home.
