We are looking for new blood again in 2025 – so if you’re looking for a frightfully fun adventure this Hallowe’en weekend, join our Volunteer team.

 

There are two opportunities for volunteers;  the Festival Volunteer team and the Macnas Volunteer team.

 

You can join one or the other or both!

Festival Volunteers

Our volunteers are a crucial part of our haunting affair, and we’re always looking for fresh blood. So embrace the shadows and join our spectral crew to help weave our dark enchantment.

Why Volunteer?

Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival’s volunteer team are involved in all aspects of the festival; behind the scenes, ushering at our venues or acting as ambassadors at our events. There’s something for everyone keen to get involved and see what it takes to bring a festival of this size to life.

Read This First!

Volunteer Confirmation & Briefing

To confirm your place on the team, all volunteers are required to attend an online briefing. At this briefing you will receive information about the festival, health & safety procedures and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about volunteering at the festival.

This will happen closer to the event–the exact date, time and meeting link will be sent in advance.

Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival operates an equal opportunities policy. The festival does not tolerate any form of discrimination, bullying or abuse and will protect its volunteers from any such forms of behaviour.

 

Correspondence

All initial correspondence with volunteers happens via e-mail. Please ensure volunteer@bramstokerfestival.com is added to your email contacts folder so our emails don’t end up in your spam!

 

Terms & Conditions

It is festival policy that each applicant is available for a minimum of three volunteering periods. Please be aware that the festival cannot provide any living, travel or accommodation expenses to volunteers. Submission of this application form is not a guarantee of receiving a volunteer placement.

Due to the overwhelming responses to our volunteer calls, it may be unavoidable that some applicants do not receive a volunteer placement. Please don’t let this dissuade you from completing this form – we will do our utmost to ensure that each applicant receives a placement.

Macnas Volunteers

The Macnas Parade is back in Dublin this Hallowe’en Weekend with a spectacular procession on a new route in Dublin’s North Inner City on Sunday 2 November.

Why Volunteer?

You get the chance to work with Macnas, a world-renowned theatre company from Galway on the parade that brings audiences on multi-sensory journeys, conjuring up magical-realist worlds brimming with giants, nymphs and mythological creatures….

 

Parade Roles

Pushers

 

Participants will:

Push or steer the large-scale structural images and puppets.

Pushers will learn about on the street safety.

 

Lighting Operators

 

Participants will:

Use a hand held spot to light moving performers and images.

Get a briefing from the chief LX operator or designer

 

Foggers

Participants will:

Carry hand held smoke machines to create spooky ambience

Get a briefing from the chief LX operator or designer

 

Spotters

 

Participants will:

Carry hand held smoke machines to create spooky ambience

Get a briefing from the chief LX operator or designer

 

 

All necessary training & information will be given to you before undertaking these activities. Please be aware that these activities are physical so participants will need to be able to stand, walk and interact with slow moving vehicles and equipment. You must be 18+ to become a volunteer.
