Stories have always been used to entertain, and to educate, to inspire and to imbue; indeed – there are more uses for a good story than there are stories themselves – sometimes, a story is made to scare.
On the Dark Side Of Irish Mythology Tour, we’ll take a journey through the more sinister side of Irish storytelling – from some of the frightening figures of our ancient legends, to the strange and often macabre underbelly of Georgian and Victorian Dublin, and beyond. We’ll attempt to uncover what kind of influence Irish mythology may have had on a young Bram Stoker, and whether or not it is evident in his work.
The mythology and stories of Ireland have put Gods in their heavens (and taken them back out again), kept schoolboys off stairways, forged a national identity, and helped topple an Empire. This unique tour will explore an often overlooked side of one of Ireland’s great national pastimes; storytelling.

| Latecomers | Please ensure you arrive at the meeting point no later than 10 minutes before the tour is due to start to ensure ease of check-in and a timely departure for our first stop. Latecomers will not be able to catch up with the tour. |
| Warnings | The entire event is outdoors and will go ahead, regardless of weather. Although the tour is for suitable for 12+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. There are some themes which require some parental discretion, such as death, disease, sex and violence. |
