Gather at GPO Museum this Hallowe’en to uncloak revolutionary Ireland’s relationship with the paranormal and the strange. With talks on the hour, you’re invited to explore the curious connections between politics, folklore and the paranormal.
Learn about Dorothy Macardle, the famed Republican, author, believer in the beyond and witness to many supernatural mysteries. Discover eerie tales from the War of Independence, including spectral apparitions and mysterious ghostly lights on darkened moors. Between the talks, harpist Rachel Duffy musically conjures the netherworld, echoing a time where songs and stories were all Irish folk had to pass those long, dark October nights.
Dress the part! Whether rebel, writer or creature of the night, costumes inspired by Ireland’s revolutionary past, literary legends and the Gothic world of Bram Stoker are encouraged! A costume competition will run throughout the days with suitably spooky prizes.
