In collaboration with IFI Horrorthon, Slaughterhouse are invading the IFI, for one night only, and turning it into the Slaughterhouse of Horrors, featuring Seanchoíche, a storytelling night which has sold out events across the world, gathering people to tell their stories of ‘The Horror Within’; a 35th-anniversary screening of Pet Sematary and a masterclass in Irish horror in the final room, featuring Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) and Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise), hosted by Billie Jean of the ever-popular Video Nasty Presents.
Tickets for all three events include access to an afterparty in the foyer where the crew from HONEYPOT will wake the dead with a brand new soundtrack for the legendary 1922 film Häxan.
Ireland is known for storytelling, bearing some of the greatest writers and storytellers in history, including the mastermind behind Dracula himself, Bram Stoker. As part of Slaughterhouse of Horrors, Seanchoíche will invite members of the public to share their stories revolving around the theme ‘The Horror Within.’ Whether it is a spookier tale passed down through generations, or a more revealing modern-day horror involving a deep confession, a guilty pleasure, or something downright wild that took place in the past, this session is set to be a wonderful mixed-bag of stories, some more horrid than others.
For years, IFI Horrorthon has given Dublin cinema-goers nightmares. A place where boundary-pushing new films, undiscovered gems and cult icons collide in the Irish Film Institute. As part of Slaughterhouse of Horrors, they’re teaming up with Slaughterhouse for a special 35th anniversary screening of Pet Sematary.
Doctor Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne). After the Creeds’ cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. When Louis’ son, Gage (Miko Hughes), dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy’s body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis’ visions of a deceased patient.
Irish horror is having a moment. Actors, directors, writers and more are going global with their work, but where did it all begin? As part of Slaughterhouse of Horrors, two of Ireland’s foremost directors will screen their short film that started it all and discuss their journey to the big screen. Hosted by one of the crowned queens of Irish horror, Billie Jean of the ever-popular Video Nasty Presents, we’ll welcome Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) and Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise / Hole in the Ground).

Ticketing
Wheelchair users can book accessible spaces online. In Screen Three, these seats are listed as A1, A2, and A3, and these seats can be removed by request. In Screen One, wheelchair users should book E0 (empty space). In Screen Two wheelchair users should book B0 (empty space).
Arrival
Large portions of Temple Bar are cobblestoned and pedestrianised, but some of the pathways can be uneven, narrow or obstructed by bins and locked bikes. The road of Eustace Street is cobbled, and it is used by cars.
The closest step-free Luas stops are located at Trinity College on the Green Line, (550m away), and the Abbey Street stop (800m away) on the Red Line.

Entry
There is step-free access to the venue. The front door is open at all times.
Space
The IFI has three floors, all accessible by lift and staircase.
Ground floor: Bar, café, box office, toilets, Screen One
First Floor: Screen Two
Second Floor: Screen Three
There is a mezzanine that can be accessed via the lift and two small steps.
Accessible Bathroom / WC
There are two dedicated accessible toilets located on the ground floor of the IFI. Located closest to the café and the main entrance, the larger of the toilets requires a fob key to unlock it. Ask a member of the Box Office Staff to assist. The second accessible toilet is located close to the ladies toilets at the back of the venue. It requires a code to unlock it, which is on the bottom of all tickets.
Bar
The bar has a height of 107cm, with the option of cold and hot drinks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Straws are available. Hot and cold food options are also available here. All allergens are listed.
Performance Space
There is a designated wheelchair space immediately inside the door of Screen One beside Row E. There is step-free access at the front row but seats have to be removed to make that space available to a wheelchair. Wheelchair users can choose to stay in their own chair or transfer to a cinema seat. Availability of the wheelchair seats differs with every performance. A complimentary carer seat is provided with these seats.
The spoken word event will take place in Screen One, with performances speaking close to the cinema screen using microphones.
Outside of the cinema screens, the foyer will host an afterparty with DJs.
Seating
There is low seating and chairs throughout the main foyer and café. All tables and chairs are moveable. The chairs have no arm rests.
Sound
There is a Loop system in every cinema screen. The loop system must be activated in the hearing aid to connect. Not all hearing aids are compatible with this system. In Screen 1, a spoken word event is scheduled and performers will be using mics. After the screenings and spoken word event, DJs will play in the foyer using a PA system.
Lighting
The IFI is brightly lit, with natural light coming in through the foyer rooftop windows. The bathrooms have direct white light. In the film screen, lights will be dimmed and then darkened when the movie begins. No strobe lighting will be used. At the after party, there will be some atmospheric lighting.
Quieter Room
Due to the open plan nature of the cinema and its café, there is no dedicated quiet room in the IFI.
