Things are getting a little kooky at Throwing Shapes especially for Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival.
Join us for Make A Créatúr, a playful, beginner-friendly ceramics workshop inspired by Irish folklore, Samhain and all things strange and spooky.
Led by Tatiana Smith-St Kitts, you will use simple hand-building techniques to sculpt your very own ceramic creature, adding texture, personality and colour with underglaze.
Think mischievous monsters, mythical beasts, banshees or something entirely your own!
No experience needed.
You can also enjoy complimentary drinks from Something & Nothing while you get creative with clay.
Throwing Shapes is a creative hub for ceramics in the heart of Dublin 8. Spanning 500 square metres across two floors, our studio brings together a vibrant community of makers, from complete beginners to established ceramic artists.
Our space is home to a thriving membership community, dedicated teaching classrooms, professional development opportunities, and our Clay City artist residency programme. Beyond the studio, we host exhibitions, markets, workshops, and community events, creating opportunities for people to connect through craft.
At our core, we believe everyone is creative. We’ve built a welcoming, inclusive space where people can learn, experiment, develop their practice, and find their place within Dublin’s growing ceramics community.

Arrival
The building is located directly behind the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. The main entrance is situated along a pedestrian footpath. Once you enter the building, you will need to use the stairs to go up to the first floor to reach the workshop.
Entry
The main entrance to the building is located on the ground floor and offers a flat, step-free approach from the street. The front door is quite heavy and may require some extra effort or assistance to open. The workshop is held on the first floor. Because there is no elevator available, reaching the event space requires climbing a flight of stairs.
Space
The event takes place inside a working pottery studio. Please be aware that the studio is located on the first floor of the building, and there is no elevator or lift available on the premises.

There will be no bar at this event.
Sound
There will be background music playing during the workshop, but the overall noise level is expected to remain low.
Lighting
The studio is very brightly and evenly lit, providing excellent visibility throughout the workspace.
