SCANRA is a spellbinding night of music, myth and storytelling unearthing the ancient Irish origins of Samhain through the voices and visions of contemporary creators.
Now in its fourth year, SCANRA has sold out its annual performance at Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival three years in a row, building a reputation for magical/mysterious nights that draw audiences into a world of strange encounters.
This year, you are invited to gather around ‘The Bonfire’ at historic Bewley’s Café for their most intimate evening yet.
The lineup includes musician and performance artist Branwen Kavanagh, storyteller Sarah McKenna Dunne, performance artist Foxx and award-winning instrumentalist and composer Alannah Thornburgh, with performance poet Róisín Nic Ghearailt at the helm.
Part of Night Bites, Dublin City Council Bram Stoker Festival’s after-dark series presented in association with the Night-Time Economy Advisor, SCANRA: The Bonfire promises an evening of music, myth and mystery.

Bewley’s is located on Grafton Street and is easily accessible by all bus routes passing through Dublin city centre. Grafton Street is paved with smooth flagstones.

Entry
There is step-free access to the café from Grafton Street and a lift providing access to the first floor.
Space
The ground floor is the main café and the first floor is the event space. The first-floor event space can be accessed via stairs or lift.
Accessible Bathroom / WC
There is a gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible toilet located on the second floor.
Bar
There will be a bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The bar is located on the same floor as the performance space.
Performance Space
The venue has two areas for you to enjoy. The first is the main space where the performances take place. The second is a social area where you can sit, chat, and take part in activities throughout the evening. Both spaces have a mix of seating and standing room, so you can choose whatever is most comfortable for you. Both rooms are on the same floor and do not require using steps to move between rooms.
Seating
70 low, moveable chairs will be provided.
Sound
Harp music will be played. Ear protection will not be provided.
Lighting
Atmospheric and dimmed colourful lighting will be used.
Quieter Room
There is no designated quiet space in this venue.
